Paxos and Antipaxos

Paxi is a wonderful island in the Ionian Sea, geographically located south of Corfu. It is mostly famous for the exotic beaches in the close, uninhabited island of Antipaxos. Paxi has three small seaside villages where many private yachts and fishing boats moor in summer. These villages are lined up with fish taverns and studios. Daily boat tours depart from Gaios, the main village of Paxi, to the island of Antipaxos, a place with gorgeous sea water. Holidays in Paxi can be combined with the neighboring island of Corfu and the opposite mainland coasts.

Gaios Village Paxi: Gaios is the capital town of Paxi, named after the Apostle Gaios, who played an important role on the island when he preached during the first years after the death of the Christ. Gaios is surrounded by a stunning landscape with lush green olive groves and it counts on 500 residents that constitute the majority of the population of the entire island. Today most of them are engaged in tourism and fishing.

Mesovrika Beach Paxi: If you love secluded undeveloped beaches and have no problem with shingle, then Mesovrika beach on Antipaxos island will match your liking. It is a small cove on the north east side of the island, nestled between the popular beaches of Voutoumi and Vrika. There is no sand to be found which is why most yacht and tour boat visitors prefer the two sandy beaches on the sides. The beach conists of white pebbles and large shingles.

Voutoumi Beach Paxi: Voutoumi is a nice, pebbled beach located on the north eastern side of Antipaxos Island. It is situated inside a large cove with high rocks covering both sides of the beach. Voutoumi beach attracts many visitors from the neighbour islands of Paxi, Corfu and even Italy during the summer months, who love to swim in the inviting turquoise blue waters of the bay. The water here is shallow, ideal for all ages, while snorkeling near the rocks is a nice activity.
